Iran’s ‘Cold Breath’ grabs Mammoth Lakes Film Festival prize

Iran’s ‘Cold Breath’ directed by Abbas Raziji has won the Jury’s prize at the International Mammoth Lakes Film Festival (MLFF) in the US.

The Iranian movie was awarded for the best international narrative feature.

It narrates the story of Maryam, who is 30-years-old and faces with hardship everyday.

‘Cold Breath’ stars Bita Baderan, Majid Mozaffari, Parichehr Riali, Hamideh Barati and Ezzatollah Ramezanifar.

The cast and crew of the film did not attend the festival due to Trump’s controversial travel ban of citizens of seven predominantly Muslim nations, including Iran.

The film was screened in a number of distinguished international festivals, welcomed by foreign audience and critics, won a number of awards, including the best narrative feature at the Ridgefield Independent Film Festival last week.

MLFF is an international film festival that takes place annually in Mammoth Lakes, California. The main event at the Mammoth Film Festival, the Feature Film Competition, is a unique elimination-style tournament.

The festival was founded by two entertainment industry veterans from California Natives.

In 2009, the Mammoth Film Festival was named by Moviemaker Magazine as one of the 25 most worthwhile festivals in North America. MovieMaker also described it as “American Idol for moviemakers ... rapidly growing in recognition and praise.”

The festival was held on June 4-7, 2017.
